Below is a list of the differences between the SAT and the ACT Exam. SAT used to stand for the Scholastic Aptitude Test, but this is no longer true. Now it is just called the SAT. The ACT still stands for the American College Test. The ACT is accepted for college admission by all colleges within the North Dakota University System.

  • No English grammar
  • Math accounts for 50% of your score
  • Questions go from easy to hard in most sections
  • All your SAT scores reported to colleges
ACT
  • Science reasoning section
  • Math sections include Trigonometry
  • Vocabulary less important
  • Entirely multiple-choice
  • No guessing penalty
  • English grammar tested
  • Math accounts for 25% of your score
  • Easy & hard questions mixed within sections
  • Report scores only from the test dates you choose
