On January 15, 2005, the second nontraditional career workshop for boys was held at Minot High School, Magic City Campus. The workshop was open to students in grades 8-11. Nineteen boys braved the cold January day to attend. Nontraditional careers are careers where 75 percent or more of the workers are the opposite gender. The purpose of this workshop was to expose boys to nontraditional career opportunities for their consideration.

DUDE Tech is a component of a grant funded by the State Board for Career and Technical Education to create awareness and encourage boys to explore careers in nontraditional fields. This special event was coordinated by Rachel Pennington and Mary Gross, both Family Consumer Science instructors at Magic City Campus, and Pam Stroklund, CTE program director.

The day started with a panel of professionals employed in nontraditional careers. A description of each career was read by Pam Stroklund and the boys had to guess who is employed in that career. The panelist were Anne Brawley-Electrician, Lisa Zastrow-Attorney, Amy Keeling-Networker, Maggie Taggert-Police Officer, Reed Argent-Physical Therapist, Robby Volk-Nurse, and Doug Erz-Ultrasound Technician.
