Define Your Dreams, was a nontraditional career exploration and self-awareness workshop for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade young women. This event was held on Saturday, April 19, 2008, at Minot High School, Central Campus.

Presenters from the Minot community volunteered their time to share their career and describe to the girls how they made the transition from school to where they are today. The girls attended two breakouts session in the morning, had lunch, then listened to the keynote speakers from the Army National Guard and Participated in Team building activities - human knot, mine field, large jump rope. Participants finished the workshop by attending two more breakout sessions in the afternoon. This was a fun and exciting way for the girls to learn about nontraditional career opportunities available to them.

The overall goal of Define Your Dreams is to increase awareness, interest, competence and confidence in career fields that are under-represented by the female gender through…

  • Hands-on workshops and presentations by local female role models exploring a full range of careers including those which are considered nontraditional and high tech, high pay careers.
  • Team building with friends.
