Spotlight on Career Day at
Washington Elementary 2001

Elementary school is a time to make students aware of different careers and help them to make the connection between what they are learning in school and how they will use what they learn in the future.

During the month of May, Tim Ludwig, the counselor at Washington Elementary sponsored a career day for 5th graders. This was a full day of activities designed to make 5th grade students aware of the many different careers available and the skills they will need to find success. Students played Career Bingo and Career PayDay, watched several videos, took a values and interest inventory to determine the careers that might be a good match for them, and used their decision making skills during an activity centered around lifestyle choices. All of the activities combined with discussion made this day a great success. Thanks Tim for providing your students with this experience.
