The
goal of the Career Fair at Central Campus was to help students
understand what skills they will need to enter the workforce.
Each hour of the day, math students went to the auditorium to
hear a panel of three business professionals describe what they
look for when hiring new employees. Students quickly discovered
there are certain skills needed in all occupations. The speakers
focused on the three levels of skills that workers need, according
to education level..... professional, skilled and unskilled
labor. Professional can be described as workers with a four
year college degree or advanced education; skilled labor is
a person with some type of training beyond high school, usually
1- 2 years of college; unskilled labor is is a person with a
high school diploma or less with no special skills. Students
walked away with a better understanding of what they need to
do to find success.
