Spotlight on the Medical Career Day
at Central Campus 2001

A BIG "THANK YOU" goes out from the Minot Public Schools School-to-Career Program to some exceptional people for their help with Medical Careers Day on January 16th, 2001. Sheila Klein, an Audiologist from Medical Arts; Dr. Michael Shannon, DDS, a Periodontist; Sharon Reistad, a Clinical Lab Technician from the Minot Center for Family Medicine along with Jim Coffin, a Radiologic Technologist from UniMed and Cynthia Kihle, a Physical Therapist from UniMed spent the day educating students about the opportunities available for them in the medical field.

Students learned about the education and training required for different careers, and more importantly they heard from many different people that it is more important to like what you do rather than make tons of money. Students also realized that they will have several different jobs in their lifetime, and that they will always have to continue to learn to keep up with the changes in each field. They also heard about how emerging technology is improving patient care and changing the way people do their jobs.

Each hour of the school day the biology classes and some chemistry classes combined to hear the panel of speakers. Throughout the day more than 600 students heard what they had to say.

Thanks again to our guests for helping to make a difference in our students' future.

More than 600 students participated throughout the day of activities at Central Campus.
