The 2011 Magic City Campus Senior Career Fair Roundtable Sessions focused on career opportunities within all 16 Career Clusters. This activity took place between 9:00 AM and 10:40 AM while the juniors took the state test on October 25th and 26th, 2011. During this event, students attended five 20 minute roundtable presentations of their choice to learn about careers they are interested in. After the roundtable sessions ended, students attended a one hour presentation in the Arvel Graving Theatre. Bob Edwards presented the first day and the second day representatives from the Jump Start Coalition presented information on financial literacy. Students who participated earned 1 test exempt coupon each day. Students can use their coupons to exempt them from taking a final exam of their choice at the end of second semester. As proof of attendance, students received a card at the door each day. Students printed their name on the card and dropped the card in a box at the door on their way out.

The roundtable sessions were held in the Magic City campus gym from 9:00 AM until 10:40 AM on October 25th and 26th, 2011. Each day, there were approximately 55 presenters in the gym representing careers in 8 of the 16 career clusters. Presenters were grouped together by cluster to make it easy for students to find them using a locator handed out at the door. For their first roundtable session, students were instructed to find/sit at the table assigned to the presenter representing a career they were interested in. After 20 minutes, students were told to rotate and find another session of their choice with students attending a total of 5 sessions each day. This event was very successful and surprisingly it wasn't that noisy in the gym. To view the locator for each day of the roundtable event, click on the following dates: October 25 - October 26

Each student attended and evaluated 10 presentations during the roundtable events held on October 25th and 26th for a total of 3585 session evaluations handed in. Out of the 3585 session evaluations, 3080 evaluations completed by students rated a presentation as excellent, 379 evaluations rated a presentation as average, and only 126 evaluations rated a presentation as poor. When looking at the results of this evaluation, keep in mind the presenters are not professional speakers, they are professionals from the business community taking time out of their busy schedule to share information. If students rated a session as poor, they probably discovered it is not a career for them, which made this a positive experience for them.

Students evaluated the roundtable presentations by selecting their response on the following scale:

The first smiley face represents excellent, the straight face represents average, and the frown represents poor.
