Updating Sliderules

We just found a box of 1960's-era sliderules (about 3 dozen) in our department storage room. Most of them are plastic, a few are bamboo. None of them were manufactured by Packard Bell, they don't have floppy drives that can be vandalized, they are virus-free, and they look so incredibly technical! They are in great condition and I hate to throw good stuff away just because it's really really old.

Can anyone give me information on how to upgrade these so they will run using either a Mac OS or Windows95?

Also, how do you configure sliderules to run on a Novell network? Or we'll settle for NT if we must.

Does anybody know how to rebuild a sliderule quickly, or will we have to repaint all the numerals one by one?

Is is ok to leave sliderules operating constantly, or is there a way to turn them off when not in use?

Does anyone have a good strategy to keep kids from stealing the sliding plastic cursorlines?
