NDALL Scholarship Award

Fall 2008

Deadline for applications: September 12

What is the NDALL Scholarship Award: The NDALL Scholarship Fund was set up several years ago with startup money from MVAEA and has had money added to it annually from the silent auction. There will be two $500 awards available again this year to a NDALL member for a project of his/ her choice. Please choose from one of the following options:

Option I. Classroom Activity: Plan a classroom activity that goes over and above just presenting a lesson. This activity can include, but is not limited to, purchasing materials for a special lesson, a trip to experience or practice a learning activity (ie: teach ESL students how to order from a menu and then take them to a restaurant to practice; teach students about government and then take them to see the state legislature, local council meetings, etc; talk about economics then invite speakers to talk about how this affects them as citizens; invite a speaker to address a lesson in more detail, etc)

Option II. Staff Enhancement: Expand your knowledge by attending a workshop or training that goes above and beyond just a classroom. Choose something that can make a difference in your classroom either by presentation skills, new approaches to teaching, a better way to reach students with disabilities or any other way to improve your teaching methods.

What do you have to do to apply for this award? The Rules are very simple. If you have questions, contact Deb Sisco

  1. You must be a member of NDALL in good standing.
  2. You must be present to win at the drawing to be held on Friday afternoon, September 19, 2008.
  3. Choose either Option I or II from above list.
  4. Then, you need to write a short paragraph describing why this is important to you and how you feel it will help your students.
  5. Next, outline in a few paragraphs how you would use the $500 to accomplish this task. This paragraph should include in detail how you will be implementing this activity, the outcomes you expect and how you will determine if the activity was successful or not.
  6. Finally, include a detailed budget of how the money will be spent.
The total application should be no longer than one typed page.

Good Luck!

Award winners will be expected to present or display the results of their activity at the 2009 NDALL Conference.
